NIKE US OPEN OF GROVELLING - DAY 4: HIGHLIGHTS

04:38PM Wed, 1st August 2012

Day 4 of the US Open saw more lingering, long-interval south swell but not quite as many big upsets as on the previous day (Saffa Jordy Smith had to go). Parko, John John, Julian Wilson amazingly all managed to rinse the tricky conditions and make it through to the Round of 48, while both Kelly and Dane progressed to the ‘No Losers’ round despite at times the slowest-ever 1-2ft dribble.

Today looks like more 1-3ft inconsistent surf but contest organisers are still planning on sending out the rest of Men’s Round of 48 so keep an eye on the live webcast if you want to see John John, Julian and Parko grovel it out.

Txomin Higson is not actually Basque, even though he has taken to wearing hiking boots and tracky bums as part of his everyday get-up.
